“Sakura Café” sits alongside a ranch in Shihoro. The view unfolding from the lofty ceiling and large windows seems to let your heart breathe. What’s served here is a daily lunch made generously with seasonal vegetables. Wrapped in the warmth of home cooking, it’s a place where you can spend time that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.

A Space That Balances Openness and Calm
The navy and green that color Sakura Café’s exterior are the hues of the yogurt made at the ranch. Step inside and you’ll find white walls harmonizing with wooden furniture, creating a cozy space filled with soft light. Outside the windows stretch the primeval forest and cornfields that have remained unchanged since the pioneer days.
At the counter seats you can savor some time alone while gazing at nature; in the booths you can enjoy a snug, private-feeling meal with someone close.
Savor the Season with “Sakura Café’s Lunch”
The specialty is the “Lunch Plate.” It’s a satisfying set featuring around ten seasonal deli items arranged on a large plate, plus salad, rice, miso soup, dessert, and a drink.
In spring there are mountain vegetables; in summer, corn and tomatoes from their own garden; in autumn, potatoes and Chinese yams… The ever-changing seasonal sides span Japanese, Western, and Chinese flavors, so you never get bored.
Rich Yogurt Made from the Ranch’s Milk
Dessert includes house-made yogurt and cheesecake. The yogurt, made with non-homogenized milk, is rich yet finishes clean. Pair it with seasonal fruit or their homemade jam for a treat you can only enjoy here. Their especially popular apple jam is awaited every year by devoted fans.
“Love for Shihoro” Behind the Café’s Beginning
The café was founded by the ranch owner, Atsuko, who realized in 2018 a dream she’d held since her 40s: “to create a place where people gather in the community.” Drawing on the wisdom of home cooking and local networks, she offers visitors a warmth that makes them want to say, “I’m home.”
A Place You’ll Want to Come Back To
Sakura Café also connects people—locals bring relatives and friends, and repeat visitors come from afar. There’s a group-friendly space on the second floor, and they’re planning experiences that combine ranch tours with meals. It will continue to be loved as “a place you’ll want to return to” in the community.
Yamagishi Farm, which operates Sakura Café, is looking for new teammates to work with them. No dairy experience required! See the link below for details.
