Bulls Burger Club is a burger shop and dining bar run by a former producer of branded beef. Created by an owner who knows meat inside and out, these burgers don’t lean on fat; they put the satisfying flavor of lean meat front and center.

One of the fun parts here is starting with a base burger and layering on toppings to build your own “original burger.” On this day, we used the “Original Cheeseburger” as our base and customized it to match our mood.

The recommended topping is the original sauce. Based on an aurora-style sauce, it blends shredded cabbage, pickles, and mustard into a house specialty that’s both refreshing and satisfying—an addictive flavor you’ll want again.

100% Tokachi Wakaushi Patty Bursting with Lean Flavor

The patties are made with 100% Tokachi Wakaushi, a branded beef developed by the Tokachi Shimizu Agricultural Cooperative. Instead of the typical 20-month shipping age for castrated Holstein steers, these cattle are shipped at 14 months, a short-fattening approach that pursues a balance between flavor and accessible pricing.

Rather than relying on marbled fat, these patties shine with the pure umami and juiciness of lean meat. Even with less fat, they don’t dry out easily, and their fine, tender texture is a key characteristic.

The interior reflects the owner’s sense of style. A space finished with DIY touches is accented by carefully selected art pieces.

You might think, “Trendy places are hard to visit with kids…” but there’s no need to worry. As the owner says, “Children are absolutely welcome. We can make kid-sized plates as well.” Child seats are visible and easy to reach, so you can feel both the stylish atmosphere and the warmth of hospitality.

TRAILER BURGER 99

TRAILER BURGER 99 is a burger kitchen trailer that opened its permanent base in Satsunai, Makubetsu in September 2024.

It all began when founder Mr. Yagi was battling leukemia and found himself saved, in a sense, by the deliciousness of Tokachi-grown vegetables. His desire to “share Tokachi ingredients with more people” took shape and led to the opening of TRAILER BURGER 99.

Serving “Tokachi Craft Burgers” Built from Local Ingredients

What this shop aims for is a “third option” that is neither fast burger nor gourmet burger. They define their burgers as “Tokachi Craft Burgers,” assembled from Tokachi ingredients and carefully prepared over about 10 minutes from order to serving.

After ordering, you receive a call buzzer and wait in your car for your burger to be ready. During that time, cars keep coming and going in the parking lot, making you think, “This place is definitely popular.”

On this visit, we tried the bacon burger made with Tokachigawa-nishi nagaimo steak.

Smoky bacon is layered with the crisp texture of Tokachigawa-nishi nagaimo steak, creating a harmony unlike anything we’d tasted before. The house-made onion sauce, perfectly matched with the patty, is deeply addictive—you’ll find it hard to stop eating.

The patty is a house-made, 100% Tokachi Herb Beef patty with no binders. Beef lovers will adore its steak-like bite, with hearty chewiness that feels like sinking your teeth into a thick steak. The more you chew, the more umami floods in, leaving you with a strong sense of satisfaction.

The buns are made with 95–100% Tokachi wheat—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Vegetables and cheese are also mostly from Tokachi, so with each bite you can feel “Tokachi’s ingredients” stacking up.

We also recommend eating outside in the open-air seating area, biting in under the sky. It’s the perfect spot for days when you want to fully savor Tokachi ingredients.

BURGER DE Kurohige

“I want a delicious burger at a reasonable price.” On days you’re feeling a bit greedy like that, BURGER DE Kurohige is just the place. Driven by the wish that “students should be able to drop by casually,” the owner created pork and chicken burgers that can be offered at relatively low prices.

The buns are from Harukoma Bakery, a popular Obihiro shop. Made with 100% Tokachi wheat, they’re baked using methods and proofing that let the flavor of the grain shine through. From the first bite, the aroma of the bread rises softly, and the toasted sesame seeds sprinkled generously on top add a fragrant accent. It leaves an impression of tightening and enhancing the flavors of the fillings.

This time we chose the most popular “Zantare Burger” and the second-place “Kurohige Burger.” The Zantare Burger features zangi (Hokkaido-style fried chicken) whose chewy texture pairs perfectly with a burger.

The shop’s namesake Kurohige Burger is a burger-style take on Tokachi’s soul food, butadon (pork rice bowl).

Burger King is a global burger chain second only to McDonald’s in size worldwide. However, because it’s still relatively new to the Tokachi area, many people may feel, “I know the name, but I haven’t tried it yet.”

This branch is operated by Rookie Farm Co., Ltd., a familiar local company that runs restaurants of various types. There’s also reassurance in knowing that a nationwide chain’s flavors are delivered by a local business.

The flagship item here is the American-sized WHOPPER. On this visit, we chose the cheese-loaded “WHOPPER Cheese.”

The patty is 100% flame-grilled beef. Because the excess fat drips away, it’s juicy yet surprisingly not too heavy. A smoky, roasted aroma stands out, and you can really taste the meat itself without relying on sauce. The vegetables are crisp, and the thin yet fragrant buns make an excellent match.

“WHOPPER”: A Menu Item That Delivers Both Volume and Value

The WHOPPER is known not only for its generous size but also for its value. Curious about the difference, we measured it alongside the Japan-sized WHOPPER Jr.

The WHOPPER Jr. (400 yen) has a diameter of about 8 cm and weighs roughly 130 g, while the WHOPPER (590 yen) is about 13 cm across and weighs around 265 g. It weighs more than twice as much, and the size difference is obvious at a glance. Calculated by price per gram, the WHOPPER turns out to be about 1.4 times more economical.

Kimura Shokudo

Kimura Shokudo is a renowned gourmet burger spot that Obihiro is proud of.

Step inside and the first thing you notice is an atmosphere reminiscent of an American diner. But the real star isn’t the space—it’s the meticulously crafted burgers themselves. Made with Angus beef and Japanese Black wagyu, each plate draws out both the richness and juiciness of the meat.

On this day, we tried the Chili Cheeseburger.

One of the distinctly “Kimura Shokudo” features that shows their commitment to meat is being able to choose between “100% beef” and “coarsely ground” patties when ordering. The patty is layered with cheddar cheese and a spicy chili sauce, creating a strongly satisfying burger from the very first bite. Juices flood your mouth while the chili’s heat lingers pleasantly.

Soft, Fluffy Buns That Bring Out the Best in the Patty

The buns are slightly sweet with a soft, fluffy texture, pairing beautifully with the patty. They’re sturdy enough to stand up to the rich cheese and chili, while gently holding the whole burger together.

The side onion rings and fries are also popular—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
