A Quick Flight with Aero K | 2-Night Ski Trip in Obihiro Enjoying Sahoro Resort

Fly directly from Cheongju with Aero K in just about three hours. Using ntabi’s travel plan as a base, why not enjoy a 2-night ski trip at Sahoro Resort, with snowy Obihiro in Hokkaido as your home base?

Transportation is simple, using only buses and taxis, so even first-time visitors to Hokkaido in winter can travel with peace of mind. On top of that, you can enjoy hot springs, gourmet food, and snow activities — this model plan lets you fully experience winter in Tokachi.

From Cheongju to Tokachi / Obihiro in About 3 Hours

From Cheongju International Airport in Korea, it takes only about three hours by direct flight to Tokachi-Obihiro Airport, the gateway to the Tokachi region of Hokkaido (the flight from Obihiro to Cheongju takes about two and a half hours). With round-trip fares sometimes available from the 20,000-yen range, this is a popular route that makes it easy to visit Hokkaido in winter.

After arriving at the airport, it takes about 40 minutes on the airport shuttle bus to reach central Obihiro, ensuring smooth access. Even first-time visitors to Hokkaido will find the travel flow easy to follow.

The Appeal of Obihiro, Hokkaido

Even within Hokkaido, Tokachi and Obihiro are known for their harsh winter cold. In January, the average temperature is around −8°C, and many days see temperatures dropping below −15°C in the mornings and evenings. When radiative cooling occurs, the perceived temperature can approach −30°C. Yet despite this extreme cold, travelers continue to choose this region as their winter destination.

Hot-air balloon free flights and skiing in the clear, crisp winter air are truly special experiences unique to Tokachi. And after your activities, soaking in the moor hot springs is exceptional — this rare plant-derived hot spring, amber in color, gently warms your body from the core.

Tokachi, known as one of Japan’s “food bases,” offers ingredients that become even more flavorful in winter. Local specialties such as pork rice bowls and sweets greatly enhance the joy of your trip. In the extreme cold, warmth and delight stand out even more clearly. That is why so many travelers eagerly await winter and come to visit this region.

17:50 Arrive at Obihiro Station Bus Terminal

There are very few restaurants around the Obihiro Grand Hotel, your destination. It’s smoother to finish your meal around Obihiro Station before heading to the hotel.

18:00 Dinner: Enjoy the Famous Obihiro “Pork Rice Bowl”

The first dish that comes to mind when you think of Obihiro specialties is the pork rice bowl. Charcoal-grilled pork on rice is a must-try when visiting Obihiro. Head to “Butahage,” a long-established restaurant located inside the station building.

Their secret sauce, perfected over more than 80 years, is still handmade today by simmering each pot for more than half a day. The punch of black pepper brings a spicy kick, and the combination of the meat and rice is simply outstanding.

Soy-based sauce and pepper are provided on the table, so you can adjust the flavor to your liking.

Taxi Fares in Obihiro City (as of December 2025)

In Obihiro, the base fare for taxis is 690 JPY (approx. 6,500 KRW), which is quite reasonable. However, the incremental fare by distance is slightly higher than in Korea, and the total cost tends to rise more quickly for longer distances.

To keep your travel budget under control, it’s a good idea to walk around the Obihiro Station area and use taxis only for places that take 10–15 minutes or more on foot.

That said, winter roads in Obihiro can be slippery, making walking difficult at times, so we recommend prioritizing safety — do not push yourself and use taxis as needed.

Fare TypePrice
Base fare690 JPY for the first 1,400 m (approx. 6,300–6,900 KRW)
Additional fare80 JPY for each additional 249 m (approx. 720–800 KRW)

* Late-night surcharges, reservation fees, etc., may apply separately.

19:00 Check-In at Obihiro Grand Hotel

The Obihiro Grand Hotel is in a quiet location about five minutes by taxi from Obihiro Station. At night, the air is clear and the atmosphere is calm, making it an ideal place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Get a good night’s rest to prepare for skiing tomorrow.

DAY2|Full Day of Skiing at Sahoro Resort

On the second day, you’ll enjoy the main highlight of this trip — skiing. Let’s quickly check the schedule for the day.

9:30 Arrive at Sahoro Resort / Start Skiing

Sahoro Ski Resort is known for its high number of sunny days and top-quality dry powder snow, offering one of the most comfortable ski environments in all of Hokkaido.

The snow is light and fluffy, so falls are less painful, making it ideal even for beginners.

The slopes are wide and uncrowded, allowing you plenty of room to pick up speed and ski with confidence. Because the courses make use of the natural terrain, it’s hard to get lost — even first-time skiers can enjoy themselves without stress.

Professional skiers also rate the resort highly, praising it as a place where “beginners to advanced skiers can all enjoy a well-balanced variety of runs.”

On this tour, you’ll use a “hands-free pack” that lets you enjoy full-scale skiing and snowboarding even without your own equipment.

【Rental Includes】

  • Ski or snowboard set
  • Boots
  • Poles (for skiing)
  • Jacket and pants

Because you can enjoy the slopes with virtually no luggage, the burden of travel is reduced — perfect if you also want time for sightseeing in addition to skiing.

16:30 Return to Hotel

After skiing, relax and unwind back at your hotel in Obihiro.

18:00 Dinner: Yakiniku at “Heiwaen”

After a full day on the slopes at Sahoro, treat yourself to a hearty yakiniku dinner in a warm, cozy restaurant.

If you want to enjoy yakiniku around Obihiro Station, the long-established and conveniently located “Heiwaen Main Branch” is a great choice.

Loved by locals for more than 60 years, this popular restaurant is known for serving fresh meats at reasonable prices. Hokkaido-style specialties such as jingisukan (grilled mutton) and sagari (beef skirt steak) are especially popular with travelers.
