8 Places in Tokachi to Enjoy Exquisite Sweets
We’ve carefully selected 9 shops where you can fully enjoy sweets unique to Tokachi, filled with the blessings of the ingredients and the passion of the artisans.
1.cafe anporute (Obihiro City)

Nestled in a residential area not far from Obihiro Station, “cafe anporute” is a popular café offering handmade sweets and bread. Baked sweets are available for takeout, and sandwiches and toast are also popular choices at lunchtime.

“Chocolate Parfait: 1,300 yen”
On this day, we ordered the popular “Chocolate Parfait.” Leaf-shaped cookies, chocolate tart, two kinds of ice cream (chocolate and vanilla), shiratama rice dumplings, granola, nuts, coffee jelly, and more come together in one glass, offering a variety of textures to enjoy.
Overall, the sweetness is modest, with a rich yet light finish. The moist chocolate tart in particular is outstanding, and the gentle bitterness of the coffee jelly brings everything to a satisfying close. It also pairs perfectly with their house-roasted coffee.
The wood-accented interior creates a calm, brown-toned atmosphere. There is counter seating as well, making it easy for solo visitors to relax and spend time at their own pace.

2.Creative French Toast in Tokachi (Memuro Town)

Located in the center of Memuro Town, “Creative French Toast in Tokachi” is a specialty French toast shop that opened in August 2025. With the theme “Truly delicious using only ingredients from Tokachi,” they serve carefully crafted plates using almost exclusively local ingredients for the bread, eggs, and dairy products.

“LIGHT LUNCH: from 1,300 yen”
On this day, we ordered the weekday-only “LIGHT LUNCH.” For an additional 320 yen, we upgraded to chocolate banana French toast and enjoyed both a meal and a dessert on the same plate. The contrast between the crispy crust and the fluffy interior becomes quite addictive.

Light whipped cream melts into the toast, spreading a gentle sweetness throughout the dish. The salty touch of the side salad and the fruity aroma of the coffee create a good balance, so you can enjoy every bite to the end without getting tired of the flavor.
Inside, the warmth of the wood and the green of the plants blend into a soothing space. Owner Madoka Nozawa not only runs the café, but also opens the space as “Oya no Koya,” a place where mothers who feel lonely due to nighttime crying and other childcare struggles can feel safe and at ease.
With the belief that “just having this place open can be a lifeline for someone,” she hopes to create a space where women in the same situation can rest their hearts. This warm philosophy is reflected in the gentle atmosphere of the café as well.

3.Hokkaido Hotel (Obihiro City)

At “Diamond Dust,” the first-floor lounge of “Forest Spa Resort Hokkaido Hotel,” you can enjoy slices of cake made by the hotel pâtissiers using an abundance of seasonal ingredients. *The cake lineup varies depending on the season.

On this day, we enjoyed two types of cake: “Mont Blanc” and “Pumpkin and Apple Tart.” The cute designs drawn on the plates make them wonderfully photogenic.
The open, atrium-style space with large windows lets in plenty of natural light, and the warmth of the trees creates a relaxing atmosphere where you can fully savor your cake.
Cakes can also be taken out from the in-house shop “Everything North,” making them a great option for gifts for someone special. There are also cakes available exclusively at “Everything North,” so be sure to stop by.
*Please note that the lineup and prices of items differ between the shop “Everything North” and the lounge “Diamond Dust.”

4.Itoto Niwa Cafe (Makubetsu Town)

Located in Satsunai, Makubetsu Town, “Itoto Niwa Cafe” is a cozy café created by combining the Western-style confectionery shop “Isshi” and “uwaniwa cafe” into one warm, inviting space.
During lunchtime (11:00–14:30), you can enjoy a combination of seasonal dishes and cake. In the afternoon sweets time (14:30–17:30), you can choose your favorite cake from the showcase and savor it at a leisurely pace.

“Fig Shortcake: 560 yen (Eat-in: 570 yen)”
The shortcake made with plenty of seasonal figs fills your mouth with a gentle aroma the moment you take a bite, while the caramel-coated custard cream melts softly together with the fruit. It has an elegant sweetness, and the fresh juiciness of the figs stands out as a refined, grown-up flavor.

“Strawberry Tart: 580 yen (Eat-in: 590 yen)”
This tart features a perfect harmony of lightly sweetened fresh cream and the refreshing tartness of strawberries. As you eat, custard cream appears from the center, and the light salinity of the moist chocolate tart crust brings the whole flavor into balance. Beautiful to look at, it’s a sweet that lets you savor the charm of seasonal fruits. *Cake selection varies depending on the time of year.

The calm, wood-accented interior includes raised tatami seating and counter seats, welcoming everyone from families with children to those stopping by to enjoy some time alone.

5.SWEETS FACTORY Tokachi Toteppo Factory (Obihiro City)

About 10 minutes on foot from Obihiro Station, along Toteppo Street, stands the sweets workshop “SWEETS FACTORY Tokachi Toteppo Factory.” The interior is known as a “dining-car-style café,” inspired by the former rail line of the Tokachi Railway (nicknamed Toteppo).

“Shima Enaga Parfait: 1,760 yen”
The café’s popular “Shima Enaga Parfait” has become a hot topic thanks to its adorable appearance, topped with a pure white Shima Enaga bird-shaped cake.
Inside the fluffy cheese mousse is plenty of blueberry jelly, with a fragrant tart forming the base. Beneath the cake, layers of salted caramel ice cream, nuts, chestnuts, Earl Grey jelly, and more create a parfait with a perfect balance of salty and sweet.
Another charm is that you can mix in the orange sauce to enjoy changing flavors. Although it’s quite generous in size, the refreshing finish ensures you’ll be satisfied right to the last spoonful.
*Parfait contents vary depending on the season.

6.HAUT (Obihiro City)

Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, “HAUT” is a café that opened in December 2024.
On this visit, we tried the popular “Sugar Butter” crêpe. The batter is pleasantly chewy yet light, and the aroma of toasted butter drifting up as you eat perfectly showcases this “dough-forward” crêpe.

“Sugar Butter: 650 yen (with toppings: fresh cream 150 yen, ice cream 150 yen, grapes 200 yen)” *Fruit toppings may vary by season.
The gentle sweetness of the brown sugar, the saltiness of the butter, and the aroma of the wheat blend together to create a simple yet profoundly satisfying flavor.
We paired it with “Ishida Coffee,” brewed using medium-roast beans from Ishida Coffee in Sapporo. The well-balanced acidity and bitterness make for a fragrant cup that harmonizes beautifully with the crêpe’s delicate sweetness.
The interior, a renovated old house restored by hand, features plenty of warm wooden touches and a calm, relaxing atmosphere.

In the softly lit space, where light bulbs glow warmly and pale blue walls and floors surround you, you can take your time and enjoy a leisurely moment.

7.Okashi no Yakata Akutsu (Obihiro City)

Located in Taisho Honcho, Obihiro City, “Okashi no Yakata Akutsu” is a long-established Western-style confectionery shop with a history of about 70 years. With a wide variety of cakes, puddings, baked sweets, and more, it is beloved by many locals as a go-to place for souvenirs.
Peeking into the refrigerated case, you’ll see rows of colorful macarons. There are 17 different flavors to choose from, and the fun of agonizing over which ones to pick is part of the charm.

“Assorted Macarons: 200 yen each”
The lineup ranges from classics to more unique flavors, including chocolate, pecan nut caramel, pistachio, cassis, rose, and more.
Our favorite is the refreshing passion fruit flavor, whose bright, clean acidity is addictively good.
Every flavor is crafted to a high standard, and some fans even say these are “the best macarons I’ve ever had.” With a delicate texture that’s crisp and light on the outside and softly melts on the inside, you can feel the care and attention that goes into each one.

8.Tokachi Tora Chubo (Obihiro City)

Located in the food court of Aeon Obihiro, “Tokachi Tora Chubo” is a new gourmet spot that showcases the appeal of local ingredients.
It is operated by Rookie Farm Co., Ltd., a company based in Obihiro City that runs various food and beverage businesses. Their commitment to quality is clearly reflected in their sweets as well.

The popular “Strawberry Soft Serve” (580 yen) uses “Sweetie Aman,” a rare summer strawberry variety from Ashoro. A vivid red fruit sauce is generously drizzled over rich yet light soft-serve ice cream, making it as beautiful as it is delicious.
With a single bite, the richness of the milk and the sweet-tart flavor of the strawberries meld together into a local sweet that will warm your heart. The hint of mint adds a refreshing accent, ensuring you can enjoy it to the very last spoonful without getting tired of the taste.
