Born in August 2025, “My Favorite Eggs” is a new café adjacent to the Obihiro Racetrack within “Tokachimura.” Featuring eggs from Tokachi’s Nakasatsunai Village and original cold-smoked seasonings, it serves one-of-a-kind “evolved egg dishes” and authentic sweets. For tourists and locals alike, it’s becoming a “new standard for dining in Obihiro,” offering everything from breakfast to lunch to desserts.

The “Shin-TKG (Tamago Kake Gohan)” Transformed by the Magic of Cold Smoke
The signature dish is “Shin-Tamago Kake Gohan (¥800 incl. tax).” Crack a rich egg over freshly steamed rice, then savor the evolving flavors step by step—cold-smoked salt, soy sauce, olive oil, black pepper, and sesame.
The sweetness of the egg, the aroma of smoke, and the accent of pepper combine to create the sensation that the dish itself is “evolving” as you eat. It’s a bowl that overturns the concept of egg-over-rice.
TKG with Five Transformations by Cold-Smoke Magic
- First bite: smoked salt enhances the egg’s sweetness
- Second bite: smoky soy sauce adds depth
- Drizzle olive oil for a creamy risotto-like flavor
- Black pepper tightens the taste sharply
- Finish with sesame
With every bite, the dish changes—truly an “evolved TKG.” An experience that shatters the common idea of tamago kake gohan.

“Good Eggs for a Good Day” – Takada’s Philosophy
Store manager Hisayoshi Takada is from Obihiro. After working in the food industry in Tokyo for over 10 years, he returned home and became the head of “Tokachi Cold-Smoke Studio.” He has created numerous cold-smoked products such as “Tokachi Magical Mayonnaise.”
“I want to share the greatness of Tokachi’s ingredients, which I’ve loved since childhood, with children and tourists.”
That passion gave birth to “My Favorite Eggs.” “I wanted to create a place where anyone could stop by casually and enjoy a little luxury,” he says.
By the way, the wooden trays used to serve the dishes were crafted by students of “Hokkaido Nakasatsunai Special Needs High School.”
For Tourists and Locals at “Tokachimura”
“My Favorite Eggs” is located within “Tokachimura,” a tourist hub next to the world’s only Ban’ei horse racing track. Many visitors stop by between shopping for fresh produce and specialties at the market, watching horse races, or buying souvenirs.
For tourists, it offers a “quality breakfast experience during the journey,” and for locals, a “slightly special lunch or café time.” It has become Obihiro’s new “culinary crossroads.”
